I thought it would be amazing to combine my passion’s of Occupational Therapy and Tennis, to create OTennis. I
completed my Occupational Therapy degree at the University of Newcastle. I am a registered Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of Occupational Therapy Australia (OT AUS).

My Personal Skills
Understanding the individual person and their unique needs.
Modifying the task and adapting the environment to suit the person.
Eliminating the barriers to participate.
Building rapport with my client’s.
Increasing my client’s self-confidence and self-esteem.

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy is a health profession which helps people with disabilities to be able to do the things they want or need to do. These often include activities that are meaningful or important to the person.

What is Tennis?

Tennis is a racquet sport combining both mind and body. It develops a person's physical and cognitive skills simultaneously. Tennis players tend to have greater levels of health and overall wellbeing, increased confidence, increased social skills and decreased levels of stress.

The Opportunity

OTennis is an opportunity for neurodivergent individuals to work on their therapy goals using tennis as a tool and to learn in an encouraging, supportive, judgement free and adapted environment which caters to the individual person.

Work on 'OT goals' using Tennis!

OT Goals:

1. To improve gross motor skills.

Let's run through agility ladders, balance on stepping stones, and learn to hit a tennis ball developing speed, agility, balance, coordination, and strength.

2. To improve fine motor skills.

Let's write the session plan on the whiteboard and use pegs to keep score in the tennis game developing hand strength, handwriting and finger dexterity skills.

3. To improve body awareness.

Let's use the tennis racquet to contact the ball out in front and to the side of our body's, allowing room to swing developing spatial awareness skills.
